About the Chapel

Servant of God LT Vincent R. Capodanno, CHC, USNR, MM, was killed on the Vietnam battlefield outside the village of Que Chau on 14 September 1967.  Father Capodanno was well-known to that village, and I met a villager who is still alive and remembers him fondly. In June of 2013, I attended a home mass in Que Chau and then began walking the battlefield. As part of the winds of war, their village church was destroyed. Now they have wants, goals and plans to rebuild their church in their village, 30 miles south-west of Danang, Vietnam. Of import, Danang Bishop Joseph Tri has chosen to name this new church, "Father Vincent Capodanno Chapel," a bold stand in face of ongoing Vietnamese government persecutions. The estimated cost is $90,000 USD, and I have joined with Bishop Tri to raise half of this. I am at the start of my fundraising with goal of handing over the $45,000 on 14 June 2014, the 1st anniversary of the Bishop Tri Capodanno mass in his Danang Sacred Heart Cathedral.
